Event description

The Movement Is My Medicine Festival (MIMM) celebrates our ancient and modern understanding of the link between movement, the brain, the body and wellbeing.

Over 3 days, the Australian community were invited to experience talks, demonstrations and classes from people who are passionate about researching, practicing and sharing movement for mental, physical, spiritual and environmental wellbeing. For example;

– we heard about the latest research on movement and motivation from Uni SA’s Professor Gaynor Parfitt and a range of other academic speakers,

– we experienced how to move our minds by moving our bodies through the ancient Indian martial art and movement psychotherapy tradition Kalarippayattu (Kalari),

– and were able to try one of the many other traditional and modern movement practices on offer in Australia including Hatha and Aerial Yoga, Parkour, African dance, Tai Chi, contemporary dance, Jeet Kune Do, KRUMP, and more!

MIMM is a community event which has been created to inspire individual wellbeing and connect our communities. It is for movers, thinkers, students, teachers, and generally any human being who wants to learn about their mind and body.

Keep up to date with movement and wellbeing events happening through South Australia through the MIMM Facebook page.
